Our Past
Grace Baptist Church of Batavia has a rich legacy of Bible centeredness in our community. On November 17, 1946, 26 Bible believing Christians sought to form a church where the Word of God would be preached in its entirety and lived by its followers as led by the Holy Spirit. Originally meeting in a home on 50 Union Street in Batavia, the small congregation soon purchased the building at 104 Bank Street.
Our history is anchored in the life changing authority of the Bible and its relevance to everyday life. Praise God for the multitude of people down through the years whose lives were changed and challenged in our church through the bold declaration of God’s living Word!
Our Present
In 1972, through sacrifice and the investment of their financial resources, God blessed the members of Grace Baptist Church with a new facility on Vine Street. In 2003 the Lord enabled the facility to be completely renovated and expanded to meet the needs of a growing congregation. This project, which is known as Phase 1, was paid off in the Fall of 2007 paving the way for the possiblity of Phase 2. The Lord continues to bless and the need for further expansion is under consideration.
It is here that our privileged purpose it to bring people to Jesus Christ and membership in His family. We then seek to develop each person to Christ-like maturity and equip them for their ministry both in and beyond our community to magnify God’s name.
